CHICO, a city of California, in Butte co. It is on the Southern Pacific and the Butte County railroads, and on Chico creek. It is the center of an important fruit-growing, dairying, and mining region. It has a large plant of the Diamond Match Company, flour mills, and machine shops. It is the seat of a State normal school, and has a public library and a park. Pop. (1910) 3,750; (1920) 9,339.
